Memorial Drive Road Construction

Repaving of Memorial Drive from Briar Forest to Gessner begins June 9, 2008.  This project involves milling off the old asphalt surface and applying new asphalt.  No widening of Memorial Drive is planned; however, a left turn lane will be constructed at Sandalwood Drive to complete the new landscape island.  Approaches onto all side streets off of Memorial will be part of this project and will include increasing the turning area to help reduce rutting of the grass.  New guard rails and pavement striping will added at the completion of the project.

The installation of a left turn lane on northbound Gessner onto westbound Memorial is also part of this project.  This addition will improve efficiency for the entire intersection and reduce cycle time for all of the lanes.

All of this work is expected to be substantially completed before the start of school at the end of August 2008.
