JANUARY 22, 2007

Mayor Marshall called the special meeting of the City Council of the City of Bunker Hill Village to order at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall located at 11977 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.

I.                    CALL TO ORDER

            Present:                                                                     Also in attendance:

Mayor Bill Marshall                                                  Ruthie P. Sager, City Administrator

Councilmember Michelle Belco                             Gary Struzick, Klotz Associates

Councilman Derry Essary (arrived at 4:40 p.m.)

II.                  DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING POSSIBLE CHANGE ORDERs to THE Bunker HILL ROAD PROJECT.

Tom Ramsey of Klotz Associates reported that they met again with the contractors last week and discussed the potential savings.  He noted that it is advisable that they get the plans up to speed which will show exactly what the contractor will be doing.  Mr. Ramsey stated that it will take them approximately 2 to 2 ½ weeks to modify the plans.

Discussion followed with regard to the number of Type A inlets, manholes, as well as the size of the manholes.  Steve Smith pointed out that it is a benefit to the City of Bunker Hill Village to put in rubber gasket T’s, which will help in eliminating points of failure.  He also noted that the City of Bunker Hill Village should save about $200,000 by eliminating manholes at Type A inlets and installing T’s.  It was noted that the maintenance bond will be extended an extra year and that Calco Contracting would like to have November 15th as the finish date.  Gary Struzick stated that a change order will be brought back to council in about two weeks.

Steve Smith asked if a Notice to Proceed could be issued at this time, as the boring under Memorial and the tie in to the City of Houston will not impact the change order.  He was given a verbal approval by council.

Motion was made by Councilman Ellis and seconded by Councilman Tuters to authorize Klotz Associates to prepare a change order with a $10,000 credit, which will show costs associated with the reduction in manholes and type of manholes, and have the completion date moved to November 15th.

Motion carried 5 to 0.

III.               ADJOURNMENT

Motion was made by Councilman Tuters and seconded by Councilman Ellis to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 5 to 0 and the meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.

Approved and accepted on February 20, 2007.
