CITY OF BUNKER HILL VILLAGE

SPECIAL MEETING

February 12, 2007 

Mayor Marshall called the special meeting of the City Council of the City of Bunker Hill Village to order at 12:00 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall located at 11977 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.

I.                    CALL TO ORDER

II.                  DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 DATED FEBRUARY 7, 2007, DECREASING THE CONTRACT BY $173,300.90 AND CONTAINING REVISED CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS FOR THE Bunker HILL ROAD PROJECT.  cONTRACTOR – CALCO CONTRACTING, ltd.

Gary Struzik presented the revised Change Order for council review.  He stated that the change in completion dates will shorten the construction time by 75 days.  Questions were asked with regard to the weather problems, cracks in the pipes, and weight-bearing.  Steve Smith and Gary Struzick explained these issues and further stated that the penalty for going past the completion date is $1500 per day.  Henry Happel of Calco Contracting explained how “rain days” are calculated.

motion was made by Councilmember Belco and seconded by Councilman Tuters to approve the Change Order.

Motion carried 4 to 0.

III.               DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PAYMENT OF INVOICE FROM CALCO CONTRACTING, LTD., DATED FEBRUARY 6, 2007 IN THE AMOUNT OF $21,240.64 FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR OF A 10” SANITARY SEWER LINE ON BUNKER HILL ROAD AT BRADFIELD COURT.

motion was made by Councilmember Belco and seconded by Councilmember Schwartz to approve payment of the invoice from Calco Contracting, Ltd., in the amount of $21,240.64.

Motion carried 4 to 0.

IV.                DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FEE PROPOSAL FROM AMANI ENGINEERING, INC., FOR A NON-BUDGETED ITEM IN THE AMOUNT OF $22,905.00 FOR ENGINEERING OF THE WATER LINE ADDITION TO THE CITY OF HOUSTON’S SANDALWOOD WATER LINE PROJECT THAT WILL ALLOW A SECOND SURFACE WATER SUPPLY CONNECTION TO THE CITY OF HOUSTON.

Steve Smith presented the report on this item and noted that Amani Engineering is the City of Houston engineer who will do the design work on the Sandalwood Water Line Project.  He pointed out that the construction would run down Stoney Creek Drive.

motion was made by Councilman Essary and seconded by Councilman Tuters to approve the fee proposal submitted by Amani Engineering in the amount of $22,905.00.

Motion carried 4 to 0.

V.                  ADJOURNMENT

Motion was made by Councilmember Belco and seconded by Councilmember Schwartz to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 4 to 0 and the meeting was adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
