MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF BUNKER HILL VILLAGE, TEXAS

JULY 17, 2008 – 8:30 A.M. 

I.                   CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Essary called the meeting to order at 8:35 a.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 11977 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.

II.                DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING CHANGE ORDER 1 to MEMORIAL DRIVE OVERLAY PROJECT

Steve Smith stated that Strey Lane was in the beginning stages of base failure.  He also stated that Strey Lane was overlaid approximately ten years ago and according to both Texas A&M and the State, the life span of a street overlay project is eight to ten years. 

 

Mr. Smith stated that the Memorial Overlay Project was under budget by an estimated $500,000 and the proposed change order was for $179,598.14.  The first item on the change order is Strey Lane Overlay for $143,914.92 and the second item is City Hall Ditch Cleaning for $35,683.22.

 

Mayor Essary stated that Bunker Hill Village would like to write a letter to METRO to ask for funds from the excess Memorial Overlay Project to pay for Change Order 1.

 

Motion was made by Councilwoman Schwartz and seconded by Councilwoman Mays to approve Change Order 1 with the contingency of the approval from METRO.  Motion carried 4-0.

III.             ADJOURN

Motion was made by Councilman Brown and seconded by Councilman Smyre to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 a.m.  Motion carried 4-0.
